Biography
"Non scholae, sed vitae discimus" (We learn not for school, but for life). -Seneca
My focus is on the care of homebound seniors, helping them maintain the best quality of life that they can achieve at their level of functioning. As a Doctoral NP (DNP) with a focus on Gerontology/Geriatrics, I would like to continue to conduct and support research that addresses the needs of the elderly; I would like to be able to share my knowledge and experience in Gerontology/Geriatrics to future generations. This I do through teaching and mentoring future providers, NP/PA interns at UC Davis, Boise State University, and others.
My ultimate goal is to help bridge the gap between home and health care for the underserved seniors in the community.
I have worked extensively with the Geriatric population while working at the University of California, Davis Medical Center; while supervising care at Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFEs) of Care Home By RNs, and others, in the community; and while doing medical house call visits for homebound seniors for Senior Care Clinic House Calls.
Working at both ends of the spectrum showed me a unique perspective of the continuum of care from acute care to community long-term care. I have seen the needs of the vulnerable homebound older adult population.
I feel strongly for those elderly who are unable to leave home, either for lack of social support or funding to afford transportation or otherwise too frail to travel. I would like to help address the needs of this segment of the population.
Mission Statement:
To inspire a culture of excellence in healthcare through practice, education, and research with a focus on community-based care.
Vision Statement:
To be the provider of choice in the evidence-based care of homebound seniors, helping them maintain the best quality of life that they can achieve at their level of functioning.
We are a group of Nurses whose passion for helping people inspired us to provide post-hospital care for patients recovering from a stroke or traumatic brain injury who are on breathing support, when they’re not ready to go home yet, to reduce time in the hospital at a lower cost of about 70% less.
Expert care is provided in a home environment, more conducive to healing and rehabilitation. We work with family caregivers for collaborative training to get them ready for home.
